ABOUT THIS EVENT
A bus moves through the city and passengers come and go—child, worker, widow, stranger—each carrying a different map of the same streets. History passes outside your window, close enough to touch. The person beside you becomes a portal. The ride becomes a reckoning. And somewhere between stops, Baltimore starts to emerge: not as one place, but as many. Inheritance Theater Project presents an original performance by and for the people of Baltimore.
POST SHOW CONVERSATIONS
Each performance will be followed by a 15 min talkback with the creative team and local community collaborators to deepen the dialogue.
OPEN REHEARSALS
Throughout April, we’re hosting Open Rehearsals across the city. Come witness, respond, and help shape what this piece becomes.
As we practice the play, we’re also practicing how we want to be in community with each other. See below for the full schedule.
FINAL COMMUNITY CELEBRATION
Immediately following the final performance on Sunday, May 3, join us at Third Space at Shaarei Tfiloh for a community celebration. Together, we’ll:
-
Celebrate the full journey of the project
-
Honor the partners and participants who made this work possible

ABOUT THE PROCESS: BALTIMORE
Fall 2025 – Spring 2026
Inheritance Theater Project (ITP) is a national nonprofit that uses theater-making to spark conversation across silos and practice new ways of being in relationship with our neighbors. Over the past 10 years, we’ve worked in 18 cities across the U.S., supporting neighbors to collaborate across divides.
Now, we're in Baltimore. Together with local artists, faith leaders, and community leaders, we’re inviting you into a collaborative journey that uses playmaking and shared inherited texts as a new way into civic conversation. The process culminates in an original piece of theater created by and for Baltimore — but above all, our goal is relationship-building: to question, imagine, and practice how we want to be neighbors together.
The Baltimore project is led locally by Process Director Rain Pryor, Community Weaver Antoinette Duren and Mia Smith, and Producers Bridgette Burton and Evan Hall of Oh to Dream.
Where We Are Now
Rehearsal Phase
April 2026
Over the past 11 months, we’ve gathered with hundreds of Baltimoreans across neighborhoods, professions, and generations. From those conversations, a central question has emerged:
How are we connected across the many different Baltimores?
Now, our team is creating a play rooted in those conversations—and you’re invited into the creative process.
Open Rehearsals are not polished performances. They are live, in-process sessions where the play is still being written and discovered. You’ll see early scenes, evolving ideas, and moments of experimentation—and at key points, you’ll be invited to offer feedback.
Your presence helps ensure the final piece reflects the many voices and perspectives that have shaped this journey.
Join us in rehearsal to witness, respond, and help shape what this piece becomes. As we practice the play, we’re also practicing how we want to be in community with each other.
APRIL OPEN REHEARSALS
