Harlem, NY
EXODUS: Threshold
2018

Bridged Division(s):
Race, Religions

Project Summary:
Over 9 months, ITP worked with the Exodus Transitional Community (an organization in Harlem serving formerly incarcerated New Yorkers) and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, resulting in a new play, "Threshold," devised by participants from ETC and students from JTS. The process was framed through the Exodus narrative's central choice — in the project's own words, "exploring personal narratives of populations from both communities and the moment in the book of Exodus when the Israelites had to choose between the certainty of servitude and the uncertainty of an arduous journey through wilderness to an unseen 'promised land.”
