We are leading a bridge-building theater project focusing on strengthening relationships between siloed communities in Hoboken. A group of local artists working with ITP’s national team, will be sparking conversations with Hobokenites to better understand and honor the multiplicity of perspectives that exist among neighbors and their complex relationships with water (the Hudson, riverfront, flooding, etc.). We are partnering with local educators, activists, artists, civic & religious leaders, and community members from all over Hoboken to ensure that everyone is invited into the playmaking process.

Recollection: A Hoboken Story
A new play created with and for the people of Hoboken
After 9 months of gathering stories, making art, and building relationships across Hoboken, it’s time to celebrate what we’ve created—together. Join us for Recollection: A Hoboken Story, an original performance shaped by over 500 Hobokenites and 13 local organizations who joined the Inheritance Theater Project to explore life in the Mile Square City—through storytelling, collaboration, and connection.
A young person sets out to understand why her family may need to leave their hometown of Hoboken—and soon realizes the problems run deeper than she knew. As she seeks support from neighbors, we’re invited to consider what pushes people aside and envision a stronger community together.
How does water shape our community? Where are the cracks, and how can we heal them together?

Tickets are free or pay-what-you wish, and all proceeds go to local Hoboken artists to continue bridge-building work.
