BIO

Zhailon is a Louisiana-raised storyteller, director, and activist whose work has developed original work in New York and throughout the country.  He co-created and serves on the Board of the Broadway Advocacy Coalition where he helped create the curriculum of their Theatre of Change course, started at Columbia Law School. Zhailon has done work with organizations like Idina Menzel’s A Broader Way Foundation, and co founded the Arts/Advocacy campaign #WordsonWhite. He was the Resident Director for “Tina: The Tina Tuner Musical”, the Associate Director of “Hadestown” in Korea, and became the youngest Black director in Broadway history when he directed “Chicken and Biscuits,” one of the first shows to open on Broadway after the shutdown. Zhailon recently directed “Patience” at Second Stage Uptown. Zhailon is the Co-director of “Reconstruction” with Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin, and the upcoming New York revival of “CATS” at PAC NYC.
